Kasaragod is a land with twelve rivers flowing across its terrain and known for celestial beauty, lies at the northern tip of kerala bounded by the Arabian Sea to the west and the Sahyadri range of mountains (Western Ghats) to the east.

Sanawara is a single-storied house built around a grassy courtyard, which is shaded by palms and fragrant with a variety of Jasmine vines and Frangipani. There is a wide verandah around all four sides of the courtyard. Two wings are for our guests; one for us, the fourth is the communal area with sitting, dining, kitchen, pantry etc. The rooms are of all high quality ceilings, lights and fresh air passage. We have been especially careful of cross-ventilation. All rooms have mosquito proof netting on all the doors and windows. The verandahs have bamboo screens to provide shade. We moved into “Sanawara”in 2004 and opened it for guests in 2005.

We have three suites of guest rooms. Each suite has a double bedroom with an attached bathroom, a sitting area and a verandah. (An additional bed can be accommodated.) Solar heated water and showers are provided in the bathrooms. All drinking water is from the natural springs and boiled. Laundry facilities are available. What we do not provide is air-conditioning and room service.

• All food is home-cooked from fresh farm products.

• We serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals in traditional Kerala style with North Indian additions.

• Tea, Coffee, fresh limejuice and Coconut water are provided during the course of the day.

• All meals are served in the dining room with the family. The sitting room and other parts of the house like study room; front verandah etc can be used by the guests.

• Telephone and inter-net facilities are available.
